What You Need to Know About Restroom Partitions

Restroom Partition Materials

One thing you need to know about restroom partitions is that they come in a handful of different materials. The typical options—in ascending order of price and durability–are powder coat material, plastic laminate, solid plastic or HDPE, stainless steel, and phenolic material.

Restroom Partition Mounting Options

Another key thing to know about restroom partitions is that there are four mounting options available.

  • Head-Rail Brace – In this type of mounting, the pilasters are mounted to an aluminum rail overhead, and the other parts of the partitions connect to the pilasters. In many cases, this is the most durable mounting option.
  • Floor Mount – Alternatively, you can mount the pilasters to the floor. In this style, all the pilasters, stall doors, and stall walls will be the same height, which creates a clean look.
  • Ceiling Mount – This style mounts the pilasters to the ceiling, hanging them and the stalls from above. In our experience, custodians tend to like this style, as it makes it easier for them to clean the floors.
  • Floor to Ceiling Mount – As the name suggests, this style of mounting attaches the pilasters to both the floor and ceiling, creating a stronger support for the rest of the partitions.
