Here at Coastal Contract Hardware, we are in the business of helping you keep your facility safe and secure. One of the many ways that we can provide greater safety to your office building, warehouse, or other commercial building is with fire extinguishers & cabinets. The regulations and rules for having fire extinguishers & cabinets are not commonly known, and they can vary depending on your location. Here are just a few things we think you should know about them.
Who: All commercial facilities should have fire extinguishers and either cabinets or brackets for mounting the fire extinguishers.
How Many: The number of fire extinguishers & cabinets you need depends on the square footage of your facility and the fire hazards present. You should determine the level of fire hazard present in your facility. This is determined by the quantity and type of combustible materials present. According to strikefirstusa.com, a general rule for most office buildings without combustible materials is to have one every 75 feet, and no further than 75 feet from where employees are working.
Where: The fire extinguishers & cabinets should be stored with the carrying handle 3.5 to 5 feet above the floor, and larger extinguishers with handles 3 feet above the floor.
Here at Coastal Contract Hardware, we offer several options in fire extinguishers & cabinets. Each cabinet is made of steel, aluminum, or brass and is very durable. We can help you determine what is the best option for your facility and make sure you have what you need to keep your employees and patrons safe.
